The Building Blocks of Detox

healthy eating and vegetarian diet concept - word detox with juice, fruits and vegetables

Most people think that doing a detoxification program is for “health nuts”, or perhaps exclusively for the child who accidentally ingests a household poison.

What we forget to realize sometimes is that regular, small doses of mildly harmful substances (such as caffeine, sugar, pollution, pesticides, second-hand smoke etc.) can also be a vital reason to detox.  We are often exposed to serious toxins and don’t even give it a second thought. For example, mercury poisoning can be obtained from consuming fresh caught fish, or poisoning can occur from consuming the trace levels of arsenic in conventionally grown apples. It can also occur due to the measurable levels of pharmaceutical drugs in our drinking water, or even due the wide use a plastics which leach into our food.

The body’s digestive system is completely designed to absorb nutrients from all that we take in, and to expel the waste or toxins left behind. But when you consider the amount of toxins that we are exposed to on a regular basis, you can see that it is easy for our metabolic functions to become overburdened. Purification, or detoxification, offers your body additional support to expel these toxins and manage weight, which is important to maintaining your health and vitality.
